Facebook Now Limits Link Posts for Many Business Pages — Here Is What Small Businesses Should KnowWritten by Catherine Hayford | Hayford Marketing LLC | Columbus, Ohio Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, recently made a change that affects how small businesses share website links. The good news: you can keep posting as usual. You just need to be a little smarter about where your links go. What ChangedMeta has started limiting many business Facebook pages to just 2 social media posts per month that include a link to an outside website. To post more links than that, a business must pay for Meta's new subscription, called Meta One. Once a page reaches its limit, Facebook can block more link posts until the limit resets on the 1st of the next month. Unused link spots do not carry over. Not every page is affected yet, but Meta is rolling this out more widely. Social Media Today reported the expansion shortly after Meta One for Business launched in September 2026. How to Work Around ItOn FacebookSave your 2 monthly link posts for your most important promotions — a big sale, an event, or a major announcement. For your other social media posts, put the link in the first comment instead of in the post itself. On InstagramNothing changes for most businesses. Links in Instagram captions have never been clickable. The link sticker in Instagram Stories is still free, and your bio link still works too. Links That Do Not CountLinks to your own Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp pages are not limited. Should You Pay for Meta One?Meta One offers paid plans for businesses. In the US, prices start at $14.99 per month. The plan that adds clickable links in Instagram posts and Reels starts at $49.99 per month. Pricing and features can vary by account, so check carefully before you subscribe. You can review the plans on Meta's official subscription help page. For most small businesses, a paid plan is not necessary. Facebook already shows link posts to fewer people than photo and video posts. In fact, Meta's own data shows that only about 1.3% of viewed content in the US included an outside link in early 2026. Strong photos, videos, and real conversations with your followers still do the heavy lifting. Frequently Asked QuestionsDoes the Facebook link limit affect small businesses in Columbus, Ohio?It can. The limit applies to business pages, not to specific cities. Any Columbus, Reynoldsburg, Gahanna, or Central Ohio business with a Facebook page may see it. If your page is affected, Facebook will show you a notice. How do I know if my Facebook page has the 2-link limit?Affected pages usually see a pop-up message when creating a post with a link. If you are not sure, a local marketing professional can check your page for you. Will this hurt my website traffic? For most small businesses, the impact is small. Facebook link posts already reach fewer people. Good local SEO and a strong Google Business Profile are better ways to bring Central Ohio customers to your website.
